This unit applies to interpreting design requirements in consultation with client, determining specifications and developing the design for custom made footwear.
Work may involve individual and team activities.
The application of this unit is according to OHS practices of the enterprise and workplace practices, which may include:
requirements prescribed by legislation, awards, agreements and conditions of employment
standard operating procedures
work instructions
oral, written and visual communication
quality practices, including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality and contribution to quality improvement of team or section output
housekeeping
tasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control and recycling
This unit requires the application of skills associated with communication to establish design requirements with the client, including taking accurate measurements, and document specifications to guide production. Ongoing learning is required to maintain currency of design options and teamwork is applied to ensure client requirements are identified and achieved in the design. Planning and organising skills are required to determine production requirements in relation to the design. Initiative and enterprise and problem solving will be used to create design concepts and match them with production processes. Self management will be applied to ensure design meets design requirements.
